In the Kitchen: A Personal Touch to Meal Delivery —River Towns

“Think about the value of your time.”

River Towns Magazine’s “In the Kitchen” feature looked at what sets Zest apart in the meal-delivery world: a personal touch you don’t get from a national box. For co-owners Melissa Wieczorek and Theo Petron, the whole idea is giving busy clients back their time — the hours that shopping, planning, cooking, and cleaning quietly eat up every week.

The feature gets into how the food actually comes together. There’s no fixed menu: every week brings new ingredients, new recipes, and dishes customized to each household’s tastes and dietary needs, all arriving ready to heat and eat. New clients begin with an onboarding questionnaire so the kitchen can learn their preferences, and the menus change with the seasons. It’s the opposite of the large meal-prep companies, where — as the article notes — quality and consistency tend to slip.

Much of what makes that quality possible is local. The piece highlights Zest’s relationships with area farms like Blue Moon Acres in Buckingham and CoCo’s Local in Doylestown, along with purveyors who prioritize local goods and shorter food miles. It also covers the launch of Club 41, the membership program that brings guests into the kitchen for interactive dining — and the longtime clients who’ve become some of its most enthusiastic members.

That personal touch is the whole point of how we cook. Explore prepared meal delivery →
